Rosa Lolita [Lita] Fernandez (Peters) VIEW PROFILE

Rosa (Lita) Lolita Fernandez Peters lost her battle with breast cancer in the morning of July 2, 2011. She was born in Eagle, WV November 24, 1951 but moved to Jacksonville, FL as a child. She leaves behind her devoted husband of over 29 years, Mac Bennett Peters. Rosa's siblings include Jo Byrd (Olafe), Joe Fernandez, John Fernandez (Liz), Mary Kimbler-deceased (Noah), Julia (Ann) Dowling (Al), Tony Fernandez-deceased (Pat). Also Rosa leaves behind 5 nieces, 5 nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and an aunt in Virginia. Her dear friends include N. Elaine Brown (Jimmy), Diane Pullin, and Sharon Spillings (John) and many others. Rosa's parents predeceased her. She lost her father, Joseph Fernandez (da-da) on July 1, 1955 and her mother Julia Landers Fernandez in 1998. Rosa attended Julia Landon Middle School and Wolfson High School and later Jacksonville University, graduating with a BA in Accounting. She worked as an Accountant in Jacksonville for the following 38 years. Her hobbies included horseback riding, watercolors & painting, cooking, and reading. In 2007, Rosa visited Mugardos, Galicia, Spain, her father's birthplace, and participated in the Camino de Santiago on horseback. Visitation is Tuesday, July 5th, from 12 noon to 2PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd. followed by a short service and gravesite goodbyes with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Horse Protection Association of FL (hpaf.org) at 20690 NW 130th Avenue, Micanopy, FL 32667. Donations will be matched.
