William Robert Long, 58, passed away December 15, 2009, peacefully in his sleep after a brief, but brave, battle with cancer. Mr. Long graduated in 1969 from Wolfson High School. After high school, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves Honor Guard. The family moved to Valdosta, GA in 1970 and resided there until 2007 before moving back to Jacksonville. Robert was a loving son, brother and uncle. Robert was preceded in death by his father, William (Bill) Long and grandparents Archie F. McCormick and Lucy C. Curl. Robert is survived by his mother Lucille Long; brother David of Jacksonville; nephew David Long Jr. of Knoxville, TN; aunt Dorothy Scheibe of Jasper, TX; uncle Randy Curl (Laura) of Jacksonville and many cousins. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 5:00PM- 7:00PM at West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009 at West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church with Rev. Logan Mullis and Rev. Chris Hall officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church, 8376 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL.
